About
Welcome , Avid weight training friends;
My name is Barry, I’m 47 years old and since i was a young boy was always fascinated with martial arts. Along with the fascination of martial arts soon came my ever desiring passion to learn. I have spent a lot of years working out in a full contact kickboxing environment that implemented a rigorous training schedule. Unfortunately I never had the chance to compete but my passion never ended. I first began martial arts in 1986 out of a traditional Gojo Ru Karate Club when i was living in Sudbury, Ontario up until i moved to North Bay, Ontario in 1987
At the beginning of 1987 i began learning a full contact Kyokushin Karate out of North Bay, Ontario, Canada in a medium size upstairs DOJO which has since moved and is now called The Elite Twin Dragons Kick Boxing and Karate. From there as i moved along in my life, never ceasing to set my foot into a DOJO with full confidence, and always at some point returning to my home DOJO in North Bay , only to be greeted with a warm welcome and continued instruction from my Teacher.
I sometimes wish i had been able to take it to its fuller competitive limit, but as the years moved forward, along came other responsibilities . I was very lucky to be given the knowledge, encouragement , and confidence that i have from my good friend and teacher Kyle Brisson , whom i will always have a tremendous amount of respect for. I continue to train on my own off and on as time goes by , but along side, i also came to understand how to implement and benefit with results from a good intense weight training schedule.
I have since researched the Arthur Jones way of weight training and have come to realize that HIT – High Intensity Training- is the way to go for me … The Arthur Jones way. I have had a tremendous amount of success over the years with learned way of circuit training to lose weight and tone muscle, if i had to, but since i have used HIT as my method of weight training , never before have i been able to see such quick results in muscle growth.
Although HIT is not for everyone, some may not be able to conform to this type of training and would rather remain with what does best for them. In light of this factor , i will also go through and present different types of weight training equipment and weight training areas that are specific to certain exercises that one might want to enhance such as the bench press, dead lift, clean and press etc.
I have always been an old school fellow when it came to weight training , so i am partial to free weights , especially with HIT. That’s not to say i never use weight training machines , just, if i can substitute an exercise with a free weight i am more apt to doing so. I believe that intensity matters a lot , but one thing i do know with intensity comes limit on duration and frequency, which HIT emphasis as extremely important for muscle recovery and growth.
In this Blog i will have posts that will take you through HIT and explain the concepts of what i have come across and what Arthur Jones implemented years ago that turned the weight training sport around. Along with those articles i will talk about some short term history of weight training equipment, past and present and types of weight training equipment with the newest designs and technology.
